01 — Biography

Italian conductor — assistant to Arturo Tamayo, and winner of the 2026 Bechstein Summer Academy in Berlin with the Berliner Symphoniker.

Lorenzo Padrin has taken the podium with orchestras in seven countries through international academies and masterclasses — among them the Berliner Symphoniker, the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic, the Moravian Philharmonic, the Győr Philharmonic and the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra — working under Neeme Järvi, Markus Stenz, Ulrich Windfuhr, Martin Sieghart, Tomáš Netopil and Oleg Caetani.

At the Bechstein Summer Academy in Berlin in 2026 he was named winner and highest-rated conductor of the course, working with the Berliner Symphoniker under Prof. Ulrich Windfuhr. In 2023 he received the “Special Talent” Prize at the BMI International Conducting Competition in Bucharest, selected from more than seventy conductors.

Lorenzo has deep musical ideas, a dynamic conducting style and, perhaps most significantly, a natural camaraderie with his musicians that sets him apart from other conductors.

Biography

Italian conductor Lorenzo Padrin is assistant to Arturo Tamayo and winner of the 2026 Bechstein Summer Academy in Berlin, where he was named the highest-rated conductor of the course, working with the Berliner Symphoniker under Prof. Ulrich Windfuhr.

His podium experience has been built through international academies and masterclasses with professional orchestras in seven countries — among them the Berliner Symphoniker, the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic, the Moravian Philharmonic, the Győr Philharmonic, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic, the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic and the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra. He has worked under Neeme Järvi, Markus Stenz, Ulrich Windfuhr, Martin Sieghart, Tomáš Netopil, Oleg Caetani, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Norbert Baxa and John Axelrod.

In 2023 he received the “Special Talent” Prize at the BMI International Conducting Competition in Bucharest, selected from more than seventy conductors.

Since 2023 he has been the founder and producer of international conducting masterclasses in Berlin, conceiving the programmes, engaging the orchestras and bringing together conductors from more than twenty countries, with particular attention to access for musicians from underrepresented backgrounds. He has been guest conductor at the International Piano Festival in Chioggia across two seasons — conducting the principal piano concertos from the Classical to the late Romantic repertoire — conductor of the Youth Orchestra “Dolomiti” in Feltre, and répétiteur and vocal coach for opera productions, having won the korrepetitor competition for La Cenerentola in Cortina in 2020.

Originally trained as a pianist, he was exceptionally admitted to the Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello in Venice at the age of fifteen and completed his Master’s degree in Piano with full honours and distinction, studying with Massimo Somenzi. He holds a diploma in orchestral conducting from the APM school in Saluzzo, where he studied with Donato Renzetti. That pianistic training informs a detailed approach to opera, to working with singers and to the concertante repertoire.
